Visit South Devon has launched an exciting new campaign aimed at encouraging locals and residents to explore and support the numerous attractions and venues within their own area. This initiative seeks to boost local tourism, foster community spirit, and stimulate the local economy by promoting the diverse range of activities and destinations available right on their doorstep through the off peak season.  The Campaign will look to run right through the shoulder season from 2nd September until the end of February 25.

Key Highlights of the Campaign:

1. Exclusive Discounts and Offers: Local attractions, restaurants, and venues are participating by offering special discounts and deals exclusively for Devon residents. This initiative aims to make local outings more affordable and appealing though the off-peak season.
2. Support Local Businesses: The campaign encourages residents to support local businesses, which are the backbone of the community in South Devon. By choosing to dine, shop, and entertain locally, residents can help sustain the local economy and preserve the unique character of South Devon.
3. To support local residents during the cost-of-living crisis and to help make our venues and attractions more accessible for them.
4. Social Media Engagement: Residents will also be invited to share their local experiences on social media. This initiative aims to create a sense of community and shared experience, while also promoting South Devon’s attractions to a new audience.

Visit South Devon’s Days Out on Your Doorstep campaign is a call to action for locals to rediscover and celebrate their own local area. By participating in visiting their tourism businesses, residents can experience the joy of travel and adventure without the need for long-distance travel. This not only helps reduce the environmental impact but also reinforces the sense of community and belonging.

Stagecoach is a key partner in this campaign to showcase how accessible the venues and attractions are.  Promoting public transport links as a way of visiting these amazing attractions and venues throughout the campaign will be a real focus.

The campaign has attracted 45 fantastic offers from our local businesses to help encourage much needed footfall over the shoulder season.  Businesses participating include: Dartington Hall has offered 2 for 1 entry, Dartmouth Hotel and Spa is offering 2 for 1 on Spa Day Passes, Dartmoor Zoo  – discount on entry for children, Pennywell Farm is offering a free coffee and cake for every adult.  These are just a few examples of the great offers we have from our local tourism sector.
