French & Saunders Open New Plymouth Media Production Facility

Voiceovers Ltd and Fresh Air Studios have officially opened their new Plymouth production facility, marked with a ribbon-cutting by comedy double act French & Saunders, alongside Deputy Lieutenant of Devon and Chair of Devon Chamber of Commerce, Richard Stevens.

Designed to support audio, video, livestream and remote collaboration side by side, the new facility brings broadcast-ready capability to the South West – helping productions stay in the region while working with clients nationally and internationally.

Developed as a shared project between the two firms, the studios are custom-built for audio, video, live
production and remote collaboration.

So, what better way to celebrate the formal opening of the new home for Voiceovers Ltd and Fresh Air Studios in Plymouth than a ribbon-cutting ceremony by another great double act – French & Saunders!

Alongside French & Saunders was Deputy Lieutenant of Devon and Chair of Devon Chamber of Commerce, Richard Stevens.

Paul Philpott, Managing Director of Fresh Air Studios said: “This has been a long-term project, funded
independently, with a very simple aim – to build something that supports, not just our own growth objectives, but the creative production sector throughout the South West. This is about giving creatives the infrastructure to deliver at the highest level without having to head to London.”

Gary Churcher, Managing Director of Voiceovers Ltd added: “These facili:es are incredibly flexible, supporting everything from a single voiceover recording, right up to live broadcast. Including remote collaboration, bringing together clients, agencies and producers regardless of loca:on. We’re proud to be building something practical, busy, and genuinely useful for the media production sector.”

Richard Stevens commented: “It was a genuine pleasure to be here as Deputy Lieutenant of Devon to celebrate this remarkable achievement. Paul Philpott and Gary Churcher are outstanding entrepreneurs who truly believe in their sector and in their team. They have invested not just money, but immense time, energy and passion to create a first-class facility that is genuinely unique in the South West. This is a proud and significant moment and a real cause for celebration for Devon’s creative economy.”

With recent projects including ADR (dialogue produc:on) for BBC1’s Christmas Day flagship comedy
‘Amandaland’, ADR for Alien:Earth, live global television for GOD TV, “French & Saunders Tittng About” for Audible, radio drama for the BBC, and working with Penguin Random House on audiobooks for the likes of Miranda Hart, Monty Halls and Dawn French to name a few, the facility is already helping production from around the UK.

The facilities consist of broadcast-style control rooms for live vision mixing and remote collaboration, a mid-sized in-vision studio for television and video podcasts, plus several smaller studios for voiceover, ADR, radio drama, podcasts and other voice-first production work.

Fresh Air Studios and Voiceovers Ltd are still small businesses, but they’ve now reached a point where the space they’ve created is having a wider impact across the regional creative sector. They are quite rightly proud of the work they do, but just as proud of what others are now able to do alongside them.

The new facility is now open and supporting productions across audio, video, livestream and remote
collaboration – helping more work stay in the South West.
