Devon Chamber rallies business on National Insurance rise

The Devon Chamber of Commerce is holding a poll of business amid ‘significant concerns’ about the government’s hike in National Insurance for employers.

COMPLETE THE SURVEY

As you will be very aware, in the recent Budget, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced significant changes to National Insurance from April 2025, specifically:

  • Employers’ National Insurance rate will increase from 13.8% to 15%
  • Employers will start paying National Insurance on more of an employee’s earnings, with the threshold reducing from £9,100 to £5,000
  • The employment allowance will go up from £5,000 to £10,500

Many employers are expressing concerns at the significant increase in National Insurance costs they will incur – and the wider impact of this on business.

We are keen to understand the potential impact of this on employers and make representation accordingly – through our Members of Parliament and the British Chambers of Commerce who are engaging with Government at the highest levels on behalf of our members.

We would be grateful if you could take a moment to complete a brief questionnaire.
