In a remarkable collaboration, the event in November 2023 saw a harmonious rally of support, with individuals joining forces to raise vital funds for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth.
The evening unfolded with an overwhelming display of generosity from attendees, donors, and supporters, creating an inspiring and vibrant atmosphere. The success of the evening was amplified by the contributions of clients, local businesses, and key partners such as Jaguar Land Rover and Isuzu UK, whose substantial donations played a pivotal role in making this charitable endeavour possible.
Thomas Rattray, Director of Kivells, added an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings by generously dedicating his time as the auctioneer for the evening.

Highlighting the auction were standout lots that captured significant attention, including exclusive tickets for the prestigious Burghley Horse Trials and the opportunity to saver a culinary masterpiece at Paul Ainsworth’s No 6, a Michelin-starred experience celebrating local Cornish produce. These items garnered considerable interest and spirited bidding from the enthusiastic attendees.
The funds raised during the auction have now been calculated, and we are thrilled to announce a grand total of £10,111.55. These funds are destined to make a significant impact on the services provided by St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, ensuring continued support for those in need. We are proud to be a part of this meaningful contribution to the community.
George Lillie, CEO of St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, said: “Roger and his showroom team really went the extra mile to make their Cars and Cards charity evening a huge success, raising an incredible amount to support our work at St Luke’s.
“We’re so grateful to the businesses that donated such amazing prizes and to the generous people who put in bids for them on the night. My heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved in this fantastic event, on behalf of us all at the hospice.
“Some people think St Luke’s is only focused on the city of Plymouth, so it’s wonderful to have the support of businesses like Roger Young, on the Cornish side of the Tamar Bridge. This part of Cornwall is home to many of the patients we care for at our specialist unit at Turnchapel, in hospital and currently in their own homes with our new four-month pilot East Cornwall end of life Urgent Care Service, supporting our NHS colleagues.”
Special thanks goes to Kivells for their invaluable support, and Celebrations Balloons for hosting the fantastic casino entertainment, as well as Sarah Young for capturing the essence of the event, and to the team at Roger Young for their instrumental role in ensuring the night’s success.
Roger Young Ltd remains committed to making a positive impact and the success of the Cards and Cars charity auction is a testament to the incredible things that can be achieved when a community comes together for a noble cause.
