Set in the historic Royal William Yard in Plymouth, BLOCK is positioned in the breath-taking, grade I* listed Melville building, offering serviced offices, coworking space, a twenty-four-hour gym, sophisticated café plus event space.

Beautiful Georgian features have been sensitively restored and brought back to life to create a multi-use space brimming with character and style.

The ambitious renovation project, alongside regeneration company Urban Splash has now been shortlisted in the 2023 Michelmores South West Property awards, which highlights projects based in the South West of the UK.

Regions included in the awards are Devon, Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly, Somerset, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

BLOCK has been shortlisted for two categories of the ten awards – Project of the Year under £5 million and Heritage Project of the year, with fellow nominees including Hall for Cornwall, Newark Works in Bath and Schiller Hall at Buckfast Abbey.

Ben Cheriton, BLOCK’s Managing Director, said: “Everybody at BLOCK is truly humbled that the project has been shortlisted for such prestigious awards.

“For my part, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the incredible BLOCK team for digging deep and executing to such a high standard during the most testing of times.

“Additionally, to thank Urban Splash for trusting us with their beautiful building and supporting all the way. To Gillespie Yunnie Architects and Boom Creative for helping to bring our vision to life and finally to the Michelmores Property awards for recognising the efforts of all of the above in shortlisting us for these awards.”

Emily Jones, Executive Director for Commercial at Urban Splash, added: “Melville is an incredible building and we have always had a clear vision, ahead of and throughout its restoration, about its potential.

“This historic building, with its original features and jaw-dropping view over the water, has been transformed into a modern and beautiful new space that incorporates a flexible workspace, state-of-the-art gym, and a welcoming cafe bar. We are thrilled that BLOCK has brought something new and exciting to both Royal William Yard and to Plymouth.”

The 20th Michelmores Property Awards Gala Dinner and ceremony will take place at Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter on 22 June 2023.
