Helpline Ltd, provider of pendant alarms for the elderly has been acquired by Appello Group, UK leader in digital Technology Enabled Care Services.

Helpline was started in Exeter in 2007 by husband-and-wife team Hamish & Maureen Cable, and successfully grown by fusing Maureen’s nursing background with Hamish’s security skills. From a small industrial unit in Marsh Barton, Helpline have grown over the years to become firmly established in the City Centre.

Following the sad loss of Hamish in 2015, Maureen has continued to run and grow Helpline, weathering economic and pandemic storms, nimbly changing and adapting as all businesses have been required to do.

Very aware of the responsibility for thousands of vulnerable customers, Maureen recently made the decision to pass their care to industry leader Appello, with whom she has worked for some years. ‘I am really pleased to pass the Helpline baton to Appello Group, at a time when Helpline is in the best shape it has ever been. Appello are well placed to assist the Helpline Customer Family through the digital switchover and into a safe and secure future, maintaining their independence in the home.’
